High intensity at the 2nd Beach Tennis Coast Cup in Warnemünde

On the 14th and 15th of July a beach tennis tournament was held for the second time in Warnemünde/Germany. For the first time it was played as an IFBT world ranking tournament. While it was still stormy on Saturday the ladies and gentlemen’s doubles played below the lighthouse. The numerous participants could enjoy on Sunday Mixed Doubles near the Sport and Beach Arena in perfect weather.

During the weekend a total of 14 Men's and 11 Women's Doubles as well as 15 Mixed couples competed for IFBT world ranking points and prizes like rackets as well as prize money.
In Men’s Doubles, the brothers Jannis and Melvin Unland from Osnabrück prevailed. In the Women’s Double the victory went to Daniela Gayck and Simone Wienbeck from Hamburg. Simone Wienbeck and Melvin Unland also won the Mixed. They beat in the finals Jannis Unland and Lea Kenzler. In all three categories, the intensity was extremely high and some of the favorites lost in the quarterfinals. The organizers of the Rostocker SV were very pleased with the tournament and will definitely repeat it in 2019.
The spot in Warnemünde has everything: fine sandy beaches a wonderful view to the sea, cruising ships, and additionally integrated into the Warnemünde Week, a sailing event.
On Saturday evening a Player’s Night was held in a big tent in front of sea the sea, it was extremely levely and went on until the early morning hours. The DJ project "WortKarg" provided the right sound.
