In the municipality of Carolina in Puerto Rico, the IFBT Carolina Beach Tennis Open 2 took place. Open Men's, Women's and Mixed Doubles, Over 40's Men's and Women's Doubles and Advanced Men's, Women's, and Mixed Doubles categories were played. In all categories there were new champions in relation to past events.In Pro Division, the Men's Doubles Open, Luis M Reyes/Freddy Velez outperformed Jimmy and Louis Lafontaine, a father and son team who showed the champions great determination and effort.
The third annual Sheraton Sand Key Beach Tennis Open was a huge success with over 80 participants competing in Men's Open Doubles, Women's Open Doubles, Mixed Open Doubles, Men's Advanced Doubles, Women's Advanced Doubles, and Mixed Advanced Doubles. The Beach Tennis tournament was the cornerstone event for the Inaugural Sand Key Beach Sports Festival sponsored by the St Petersburg/Clearwater Sports Commission and the Florida Sports Foundation which this year also included the sport of Ultimate Beach Frisbee with over 150 participants competing on five fields 30yds x 50yds in dimension on the Sheraton Sand Key Resort's 10 acre private beach.
Cancun brushed up to host one of the season highlights: Beach Tennis World Cup IFBT 2015 (WCT). The tournament was held at the Me Hotel Cancun in Quintana Roo (Mexico), from 18th to 20 th September. The winners were awarded with a $5,000 prize, a prize worth the category of the World Cup Tour. The IFBT of Mexico was in charge of managing the WCT, chosing the venue and court distribution. The Mexican IFBT is one the most active Beach Tennis federations in Central America in terms of promoting and developing this sport internationally.
